Jewish quarter in Hamburg - Grindel

City tour through Hamburg's Jewish history, Grindelviertel and Pöseldorf

On this guided tour through Hamburg’s Rotherbaum district, we will remember past Jewish life in Hamburg and visit many places where important Jewish personalities lived and worked. Starting at the Curio House, where the trials of SS officers took place after the Second World War, we will walk across the campus of the University of Hamburg to the Grindel neighbourhood, where Jewish life still exists today. Passing the Kammerspiele theatre and many stumbling blocks, we explore the Pöseldorf district with the Budge-Palais, today’s Hochschule für Musik und Theater, on the second half of the city tour in Hamburg. Right next door is the Villa Beit, which is also worth a look.

We stroll along the Alster for a while and let our gaze wander over the beautiful Outer Alster. As a qualified tour guide in Hamburg, I will not only show you the obvious sights, but also take you to nooks and crannies that only become apparent at second or third glance. Or have you ever taken a closer look at the mural on the university campus? Do you know where Hamburg’s first Stolperstein was laid – and for whom? Come with me, I look forward to meeting you! Each tour is of course variable and can be customised. Just get in touch with me.
